Two categories of franchise models are available to start off with. For the smaller market - towns with less than 4000 learners - a compact clinic business model ensures economy of scale. This model accommodates 6 learners per lesson, and is able to assist 40 learners on average.

In larger towns or cities, the standard clinic size applies. The model can accommodate 16 learners per lesson, 8 in the computer class and 8 in the group class. A standard clinic is able to assist 120 learners on average.

The timeframe of the franchise agreement is for a period of 10 years, and is renewable.

Background / History of the Business

The first Edublox reading and learning clinic was established in February 2007 —the end-result of 30 years' experience in practice, and the combined effort of 50 years of intensive research about reading and learning. (For more details, visit the our web site)

As an outcome of our research we have developed a number of programs that are currently exported to eight countries. However, the newest, latest and best programs, techniques and methods — including a scientific and comprehensive reading and learning assessment — are used exclusively at the Edublox clinics.

Because (1.) the assessment is effective in determining the cause(s) of the learner’s reading and learning difficulty, (2.) franchisees are trained to have a deep understanding of learning and learning disabilities, and (3.) they have access to our world-class programs, methods and techniques, they are able to effectively solve reading and learning problems and create a basis for lifelong learning.

Training for the franchise

Initial franchisee training of 15 days covers the following topics:

Theories on learning and learning disabilities
Learner assessment
Presenting the group and computer classes
Marketing and sales
Business processes and systems

Coaching for three months after the training is provided, mostly remotely, by making use of VOIP and IP video camera technology. Thereafter, support and advice from head office is available, usually on request from the franchisee. Or, based on monthly key performance indicators as jointly measured by the franchisee and Edublox, assistance and advice may be provided to the franchisee to improve business operations. Provision of articles and intranet discussions (also between franchisees) create learning on a continual basis.
