We believe that Pantsula Bites is the African Food Outlet of Choice. The concept, menu and recipes took 2 years to perfect with the idea being to serve traditional South African food that was professionally packaged from a hygienic environment. The cuisine is made up of meat dishes, giving the public an alternative to the many existing chicken take away offerings. Meals include boerewors, brisket, T-Bone, ribs, curries, pap and ujeque. It was imperative that our recipes were better than any home cooked meal and recent research indicates that the meals offered are ‘better than what mom makes!’ |
Background/History of the Business |
Three years ago, the Piatto MK Holdings Group, who operate and own over 22 restaurants throughout South Africa including the Piatto Mediterranean Kitchen, The Centre Court, Circus Circus and Vilamoura restaurant groups decided to investigate a potential gap in the market.
It was believed that there was no formal ‘meat’ take away offering in the market in South Africa. Take away outlets all offered a variety of chicken dishes and none of them were offering any traditionally South African food. Competition was fierce in the chicken take away category, and we were anxious to break away from this, and introduce a truly unique South African take away.
Once the gap had been identified, we began working towards developing a brand that would communicate a meaningful message to this market segment, one that each and every potential customer could get excited about, and one that offered relevance to their lifestyles.
The company has 6 directors 2 of whom are in charge of driving the brand namely Sotiri Sonitis and Elia Anastasakos the balance being Prince Sifiso Zulu, Michael Yiallouris, Pano Economou and Jason Caradas. |
Training is a crucial part of what we offer as its how we ensure our brand and offering is protected. When someone is enrolled to the Pantsula Bites family the next step is to complete a minimum of 6 weeks training in one of our stores. This training begins in the scullery and ends with a fully fledged management role where you will eventually be left to control things on your own.
It is in our best interest that our franchisees understand all the elements of running a fast food outlet so we place a lot of emphasis on the training aspect. This includes having the franchisees staff trained so that together they make a well oiled team well before they serve their first customer. |
